The SEQUOIA Challenge

CQP 2020 includes special awards that commemorates the Northern California Contest Club’s 50th anniversary, while also celebrating California’s state tree, the mighty Redwood.

Certificate
  • Participate in CQP and work a minimum of 100 QSOs.
  • Work seven of the speciaal callsigns to spell out SEQUOIA. Look for special 1x1 callsigns ending in the letters S, E, Q, U, O, I, and A.  There will be three of each on the air, for a total of 21 call signs (see chart below) -- so there will be many ways to win.
  • Turn in your log.

  • Calendar
Make as many contacts as you can, on as many different bands on modes, with all the 1x1 SEQUOIA stations.  An attractive 2021 America's National Parks calendar will be awarded to the Single-Operator with the most overall SEQUOIA QSOs in each entry class: S/O HP, LP, QRP; S/O-Assisted HP, LP, QRP.  6 calendars to CA stations and 6 calendars to stations outside of CA.

    Top 10 Leaderboard
In the CQP 2020 results, we will publish the Single-Op stations with the 10 highest SEQUOIA QSO counts in each entry class

The tallest trees in the world are redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens), which tower above the ground in California. These trees can easily reach heights of 300 feet (91 meters). Among the redwoods, a tree named Hyperion dwarfs them all. The tree was discovered in 2006, and is 379.7 feet (115.7 m) tall.
